The psychological horror aboard the freighter Tulpar is available now for Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass, and Halloween weekend is the perfect time to play it.

Mouthwashing is available now on Xbox Game Pass. It arrived on Thursday, October 29 as part of October's second wave, a late addition announced after its reveal at the ID@Xbox showcase, and it is listed for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass, on cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld, and PC.

What it is

Mouthwashing is a psychological horror game about the dying crew of a shipwrecked space freighter, the Tulpar. It is a dark, tense, story driven experience, and it has built a serious reputation since its Steam launch on September 26, 2024. Xbox Wire puts its Steam sales at more than 800,000 copies, and it won Best Narrative and Players' Choice at the Horror Game Awards.

If you like horror that gets under your skin rather than relying on jump scares, this is the one to clear an evening for.

The tiers, plainly

This one is covered on all three plans: Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass. That matters because not everything that arrived on October 29 is. Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted and Terrible Lizards are listed for Ultimate and PC Game Pass only, so Premium subscribers do not get those two. Mouthwashing is not in that boat.

The handheld label is also worth noting. Xbox's handheld tag means the game is optimized for handheld play, so it should be a good fit on a handheld PC as well as on console and PC.

One of four games that landed Thursday

October 29 was the biggest single day of this Game Pass wave. Alongside Mouthwashing, the day brought Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade (Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass), Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted (Ultimate and PC Game Pass), and Terrible Lizards as a day one launch (Ultimate and PC Game Pass).

Mouthwashing is the horror pick of the four, and with Halloween weekend here, it is hard to think of a better moment to play it.
