Mintrocket revealed the last DLC for Dave the Diver at the Triple-i Initiative showcase: a free crossover with Subnautica 2 arriving in early 2027, sending Dave and Bancho through a portal to the ocean moon Proteus.
One last dive
The DAVE THE DIVER – Subnautica 2 Content Pack takes Dave and chef Bancho beyond the Blue Hole to Proteus, an ocean moon filled with strange creatures and new resources. Per Mintrocket's announcement, the familiar loop transfers over: Dave dives for exotic ingredients by day, Bancho turns them into alien sushi by night. New friends to help, new recipes to unlock — and periodic run-ins with Subnautica 2's signature creature, the Leviathan.
The pack was developed in cooperation with Unknown Worlds Entertainment, the studio behind Subnautica. It's already available to wishlist on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox.
Why this one matters
“For our final DLC expansion, we wanted to create something that felt especially meaningful, and a Subnautica collaboration is what players have been asking us about for a long time,” said Mintrocket studio director Jaeho Hwang. “Both games are set underwater, but Subnautica has such a distinct approach to underwater exploration.”
Subnautica 2 creative director Anthony Gallegos called it “a love letter to both Dave the Diver and the Subnautica universe.”
The end of an era
This closes out more than three years of post-launch support. Dave the Diver previously crossed over with Godzilla (May 2024), DREDGE, and Guilty Gear, plus the In the Jungle expansion this past June. The game reported over 5 million sales in 2024 and passed 10 million total last month.
Fans are already calling it the best crossover yet — though there's bittersweetness, with many hoping Mintrocket does story content rather than winding down entirely.
KongMNG's take
Two of the best underwater games ever made crossing over is a no-brainer — and making it free as a sendoff is classy. Dave the Diver was never supposed to be a 10-million-seller phenomenon, and this finale feels like the victory lap it earned. If you've never played it, you've got until early 2027 to catch up.
