Rockstar Games has released the official 90-second launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 — and with the game now barely a month out, this is the closest look yet at the return to Vice City and the state of Leonida. The footage was captured on PS5.
Jason and Lucia take center stage
The trailer focuses on the game’s two leads, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, and fills in more of their backstories than we’ve ever seen. Jason is a military veteran who was dishonorably discharged; Lucia opens the trailer calling from jail — and the ankle monitor on her leg makes it clear her freedom comes with strings attached. What follows is pure GTA: heists, high-speed chases, and helicopter action across Leonida, cutting between quiet character moments and full-send mayhem.
Scored by Justice
The trailer debuts “Flower in a Hurricane” by Justice, featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. That’s not just a licensed track — Justice composed the original score for the game, a first for the series and a sign Rockstar is treating the soundtrack as a headline feature this time around.
Reviews are coming before launch
In a move that should tell you everything about Rockstar’s confidence, Insider Gaming reports that GTA 6 reviews will release ahead of launch — pre-launch embargoes are rare for games this size, and they almost never happen unless the publisher knows what the scores look like. NateTheHate adds that review copies are going out before the end of October, giving critics roughly three weeks with the game. Expect the verdict well before November 19.
It’s officially eligible for The Game Awards 2026
The Game Awards has confirmed GTA 6 is eligible for this year’s show. The cutoff for nominations is November 20 at 9pm PT — and with the game launching November 19, it squeaks in by a single day. The Players’ Voice category runs even later, with a November 30 cutoff. If the reviews land the way everyone expects, December could be a coronation.
When you can play
Preloads begin November 12 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with launch on November 19. There is still no PC release date announced — PC players are waiting, as always.
KongMNG’s take
A launch trailer, early reviews, and Game Awards eligibility all landing in the same week — Rockstar is playing this like a victory lap before the game is even out. The 90 seconds we got look incredible, but the real story is the confidence: publishers don’t lift review embargoes early unless they already know the score. November 19 can’t come fast enough.
