Ten years after it launched, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is getting a sendoff worthy of the occasion: a free anniversary update on October 27, the Final Festival of Universes on October 30, and rewards that will follow you into Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3.

Bandai Namco and developer Dimps announced the celebration on October 25, exactly ten years after Xenoverse 2 first launched on October 25, 2016. Rather than a single event, the anniversary comes in two parts — and the dates matter, because the update and the festival are separate things.

October 27: the free anniversary update

The free update arrives first, on October 27. It brings new Login Bonus Rewards and Special Costumes, plus an update to the Gallery of Time that unlocks for players who own the “FUTURE SAGA Chapter 4” DLC. If you already own the game on any platform, the update costs nothing — it is a straight thank-you to the players who have kept Conton City busy for a decade.

October 30: the Final Festival of Universes

Three days later, the Final Festival of Universes begins. During the festival, hard-to-find items return to the game, and you will earn 25 times more Star Coins than usual, making it far easier to exchange them for rewards you may have missed over the years. You can also raise your camaraderie level with Trunks, the Supreme Kai of Time, or Fu — the characters who have accompanied you on your journey — to unlock special illustrations. Taking part can also grant you a new Gi, created specially for the occasion, plus a commemorative medal. Bandai Namco has not announced an end date for the festival, so if you want the rewards, it is worth jumping in early rather than assuming it will run for weeks.

The rewards that carry into Xenoverse 3

Here is the part that makes this more than a nostalgia event: the Gi and medal you earn are not just for Xenoverse 2. By linking your Bandai Namco ID, they unlock special items in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 when it arrives in 2027. The Final Festival Uniform (Gold) unlocks the Martial Arts Festival Outfit in its rare gold color in Xenoverse 3, while the Rainbow version of the uniform, earned through Glory Points, unlocks the rainbow version of the outfit. The festival medals go further: each one unlocks a unique acrylic figure for your hero’s room in the sequel, matched to the character on the medal — earn the Goku medal and you get a Goku figure. Linking is done from Xenoverse 2’s main menu: choose “Upload Link Data,” scan the QR code to connect your Bandai Namco ID, then use that same ID for Xenoverse 3.

A decade of Xenoverse 2 — and what comes next

Xenoverse 2 has had a remarkable run. The action RPG let players create their own Time Patroller and rewrite Dragon Ball history alongside Trunks and the Supreme Kai of Time, and ten years of DLC sagas kept it alive long past the lifespan of most fighting games. It is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The sequel, re-revealed in April 2026, takes players to West City in Age 1000 and is slated for 2027. The Final Festival reads like a bridge between the two games: one last big party in Conton City that also stocks your inventory for the next adventure.

What to do

Grab the free update on October 27, jump into the Final Festival when it opens on October 30, and link your Bandai Namco ID so your Gi, medals, and figures make the trip to Xenoverse 3.
