Sarcoph, the atmospheric indie horror game about sneaking in, grabbing the loot, and escaping before the monster finds you, just went free on Google Play and Windows — right in time for spooky season.

FarBridge, the Austin-based publisher, has teamed up with indie developers David Turkiewicz and Colin Joyce to bring their stealth-horror game to a whole new audience — for free. The timing is no accident: the launch update note literally reads “Happy Halloween!!!”

Search, survive, escape

The pitch is pure tension: 25 years ago, a crater opened outside the industrial city of Sarcoph, toxic fog killed most of the residents, and the city was evacuated. You play a scavenger tipped off about valuables left behind in the abandoned ruins — sneak in, grab the loot, and get out before the monster finds you. The Play Store tagline says it all: “SEARCH, SURVIVE, ESCAPE.”

This isn’t a brand-new game, either. Sarcoph already built a loyal following among horror fans and content creators before this free wide release — FarBridge CEO Patrick Curry puts it this way: “Sarcoph nails that feeling of being somewhere you really shouldn’t be.”

Where to play

Sarcoph is free now on Google Play for Android and on Windows. It supports controllers, mouse and keyboard, and touch controls, so however you like to get scared works.
