Sony is pulling GTA 5 from the PS Plus Extra catalog on November 17 — exactly two days before GTA 6 launches on November 19. PS5 owners are getting system notifications urging them to finish their Los Santos replay now.
The notification
As reported by Push Square and PlayStation LifeStyle, Sony is pushing a message to PS5 owners: “If you're counting down the days until GTA 6 arrives on PS5 on November 19, why not take a trip to Los Santos in the meantime? GTA 5 is available to play in the Game Catalog for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members, but only until November 17.” The notification offers two buttons: pre-order GTA 6, or play GTA 5.
Why now
This isn't random. Rockstar and Sony have cycled GTA 5 in and out of PS Plus Extra before — this is its third stint since December 2023. But the timing is deliberate: clearing the old game from the subscription two days before the sequel forces the choice. Want to keep playing GTA 5 or GTA Online after November 17? Buy it.
What you need to know
Deadline: November 17, 2026. After that, Extra and Premium subscribers lose access unless they own a copy. The full November departure list drops October 20. And no — GTA 5 leaving doesn't mean GTA 6 is coming to PS Plus. Don't hold your breath.
KongMNG's take
Sony's not even hiding it: the notification literally funnels you toward a GTA 6 pre-order. With GTA 6 a month away, this is the last call for a free Los Santos victory lap.
